SANTA MONICA'S BEST BICYCLE RIDES
Santa Monica provides visiting cyclists with cycling routes for every occasion. Here are four classic rides that we recommend. There are a plethora of cycling opportunities in Santa Monica for the global cyclist to explore. Santa Monica LA: Mandi + Westridge (39.85 km/24.76 mi)
This trip is moderately intense and offers a great tour of Santa Monica and Saint Vincent Mountain. The route begins on Santa Monica Beach Path and takes you up towards the mountains. For this route, you have a few different options. If you would like to do a shorter trip, you can go up through the mountains a short way, and then head back. If you would like to see all of Saint Vincent, go up further along the route and see some more views. Either way, you get to see some incredible views in the mountains near Santa Monica. Plenty of Picture opportunities await! The elevation gained is about 2,375 feet and the duration of the whole route is about 3 hours.

Santa Monica to Palos Verdes (95.07 km/59.07 mi)
This trip is moderately intense and offers a great tour of Santa Monica and Palos Verdes. The route begins right near Santa Monica State Park Beach, and then takes you along the beach until you reach Venice Beach. You will continue to ride along different beaches like El Segundo Beach and Manhattan Beach, so feel free to stop and relax at the beach. After passing through a handful of amazing beaches, you will have the chance to see all of Palos Verdes. This route takes you through a loop around Palos Verdes, seeing the estates, and point Vincent Park. After your loop around, make your way back to Santa Monica along the beaches again and stop wherever you like. The elevation gained is about 2,221 feet and the duration is about 5 hours.

Santa Monica Beach to Malibu via a climb through the Santa Monica Mountains (83.75 km/52.04 mi)
This trip is more intense and offers a great tour of Santa Monica, Malibu, and the Santa Monica Mountains. The route begins at South Beach Park, and takes you on a long and beautiful beach ride until you arrive in Malibu. From here you can see some of Malibu, maybe get some coffee, and then begin your ascent up Malibu Canyon Road. As you journey up this road, you will see breathtaking mountains and state parks. At the top of your climb you can see the incredible views that Calabass Highlands has to offer. On your way back, have some more great picture opportunities as you ride through Toponga State Park and make sure to stop at some beaches on your way back. The elevation gained is about 4,511 feet and the duration is about 5 hours.
