Routes and Top Tips

Here are Livelo's top tips when renting a road bike.

BRAKES: WHICH SIDE IS FRONT?

First up, please check the brake setup on your bike. Our bikes are setup to the convention of the country you are riding in. If you ride/drive on the right hand side of the road, the front brake will be setup on the left (North America, Europe etc). If you are in a country where they ride/drive on the left hand side of the road, your front brake will be on the right hand side (Australia, UK, New Zealand etc). The gearing is always the same globally, so that's one thing you do not have to worry about!

GROUPSETS

Speaking of shifting gears, you may be using a different groupset to the one that you have on your own bike. When you place your booking you will have noted that we describe the groupset on the bike you have booked. If you need to check this just return to www.livelo.bike > sign in > go to your Profile > check your Orders. If you are going to be using a different groupset to the one you are used to, click here for some information on the use of each of the groups that we currently offer.

PEDALS

When you place your booking you will have to select a particular pedal type, or nominate to bring your own pedals and tools. If you need a hand to check what type of pedal/cleat you need, click here

ROUTES

Click here to see a list of the routes we recommended in our locations. Each ride has a link to a Garmin or Strava page where you can sync to your device or download the GPS file to upload it to your bike computer. Remember, consider your abilities and prioritize your safety when riding.

GUIDED RIDE

Of course, if you want to completely remove the stress out of riding in an unknown location, you may be still in time to sign up for a Livelo guided ride. Just return to www.livelo.bike and select your location and place a booking for a guided ride on the same day as your rental booking. If a guided ride is not listed in your location reach out to us, as we may be able to arrange a ride for you.
